Biography

State Senator Dennis Kruse represents Senate District 14, which is composed of portions of Allen and DeKalb County. First elected to the Senate in 2004, Kruse serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Education & Career Development and is also a member of the Senate Committees on Elections, Family & Children Services, Pensions & Labor, and Rules & Legislative Procedure.

Kruse previously served as a State Representative and as the Jackson Township Trustee in DeKalb County. He is involved in a wide variety of community activities including the Trine University Board of Trustees, Gideon’s International, Indiana Family Institute, American Family Association, Indiana Right to Life, Advance America, and the National Auctioneer’s Foundation Board of Trustees.

He has received numerous awards and recognitions including an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service from Harrison College, the Anderson University Distinguished Alumni Award, Guardian of Small Business Award from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Legislator of the Year from Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Legislator of the Year from the National Federation of Independent Business.

A graduate of Indiana University, Kruse is a licensed auctioneer with Dennis Kruse & Associates. He and his wife Kay attend County Line Church of God. They have four children and four grandchildren.
